Appeal after suspicious car fire, Newquay

CCTV sought by police

Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspected racially motivated car arson in Newquay at the weekend.

A silver Vauxhall Insignia was set alight while parked outside King Mark House in Tregunnel Hill sometime between 3.15am and 3.30am on Saturday [28 September].

Extensive damage was caused to the vehicle during the incident which is being treated as arson by police.

Officers also believe the attack on the vehicle may have been racially motivated.

A 35-year-old man from Newquay has been arrested on suspicion of arson and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating and appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time of the offence to contact them.

As part of the investigation officers are also asking for anyone with private CCTV covering Stret Constantine, Stret Caradoc, Tregunnel Hill, Chynance Drive, Hawkins Road or Rawley Lane to get in touch.
