Air ambulance lands after man breaks ankle in Mullion

Emergency rescue teams were tasked after a man broke his ankle near Mullion Cove Hotel.

The incident occurred early yesterday morning (11th) after the individual slipped on the cliff.

Due to the remote location, Cornwall Air Ambulance was called to assist Mullion Coastguard.

A spokesperson for Mullion Coastguard commented: "The team assessed the casualty and updated ambulance control with the situation. Due to the remoteness of the location, the pain the casualty was in and type of injury Cornwall Air Ambulance was tasked.

"With the ankle dressed and splinted by the Air Ambulance crew, we set up 3 lines to caterpillar carry the stretcher up the slope utilising our flank team Porthleven Coastguard Team.

"We then carried the casualty to the helicopter for onwards care."
