A popular Helston charity shop will soon be getting a new home and a new layout as plans move forward for relocation.
The Fishermen's Mission charity shop in Helston is the only one of its kind in the UK.
The shop will be moving soon into its new home in Coinagehall Street, taking over a site which used to be occupied by a jobcentre.
Manager at Fishermen's Mission Melinda King said:
"The old shop is still there but we officially move out on Monday into the old jobcentre.
"There will be lots more space, it was just dangerous to work in the other shop really it was too full and dangerous for the other volunteers to move about.
"In the new shop, I wanted a welfare centre for the fishermen so they can get support when they need it."
Melinda told Nub News how she has been amazed by the support and donations with Bradfords providing all the paint, wood and shelving, there was help from Jewsons, Travis Perkins as well as donations from Leedstown Timber.
"There are many people that have offered to help which is amazing, somebody on Facebook donated a table and chairs for the welfare centre which was really kind," Melinda added.
The vision for it was a big community DIY SOS project but due to Coronavirus that wasn't possible so Melinda has spent three weeks just her and a roller painting the three floors of the shop, battling her fear of heights as she got up the ladder.
Melinda continued:
"Everyone has been really nice about it, we are just trying to provide something which Helston hasn't got.
"This isn't just another charity shop, this is a relocation to make it safer for the customers and volunteers."
