'Legacy of lovable and hilarious memories': Tributes flood in and fundraiser set up after loss of much-loved Lizard community figure
Tributes have been paid to Keith Williams, a much-loved figure in The Lizard and someone who "lit up the village."
Keith Williams recently passed away and hundreds of residents have commented to pay their respects.
Now, a fundraiser has been set up to gather money for a memorial bench for Keith.
You can make a donation here.
Organised by Josh Lamerton, Josh will be taking on a half marathon to raise enough funds for the bench.
Created less than 24 hours ago the fundraiser has got together over £1,000.
The fundraiser reads:
"I am going to be taking on a half marathon to raise money for an amazing cause, I am going to do this at the start of next year, the official date will be decided in the next few weeks.
"As you know The Lizard lost one of its most loved members of the community, so I have decided I will be taking on a half marathon to raise enough money to buy a Memorial Bench for Keith Williams.
"I am currently in talks with the council as to where the location of this bench will be, I will keep you all updated as the details come in.
Funds raised will go to the memorial bench, any leftover funds will go to a cause, event or charity that is currently undecided." A Memory Board is also in place at The Witchball pub, Lighthouse Rd, for people to visit, place photos and leave messages. Some of the tributes to Keith read: "Absolutely shocked to be reading this sad news, what a wonderful man he was, great childhood memories of him." "We were all so shocked & saddened to hear this news of Keith. Such a lovely kind & thoughtful man. He will be greatly missed by us all." "This beautiful soul left us all broken-hearted yesterday. He lit up the village and The Lizard will never be the same again." The Lizard Football and Social Club wrote: "Following yesterday's devastating news about the passing of Keith Williams, we would like to pass on our deepest sympathy to his family and many friends. "Whether it was as the 'Doorman', Quizzer, Band dancer or not-so-quiet customer, Keith was, and always will be, a friend to everyone he met here. "No matter the situation, there was always a smile and a filthy joke to brighten the moment. "We would like to share that he, his family and all close to him will be in our thoughts." The Lizard Lifeboat Station commented: "As our flag at the station flies at half-mast we remember very fondly the many year's service Keith gave to The Lizard Lifeboat. Keith will be missed by us all and we send our love and deepest sympathy to his family at this incredibly sad time."Follow the latest news on our Twitter and Facebook page.
