A bench has been stolen from a remembrance woodland project in Helston.

Martine Knight, creator of Butterfly Wood, has put out an appeal for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the bench.

Butterfly Wood is a project working to restore an area of woodland in remembrance of Martine's late son, David Hawke-Treneer.

David died by suicide in 2013, Butterfly Wood is aiming to be a place of tranquility and healing to be used by local mental well-being groups and schools.

A passing motorist was able to disturb the thief/thieves before they could load up the nearby chairs as well.

Martine Knight told Nub News how sad it is that a project designed to help others "has been abused yet again".

"However, we will not be deterred and hope the culprits are caught," Martine added.

Anyone with information on the bench should contact the police and quote the reference number 927/160920.
