The team at Coronation Park has issued a reminder to those using the facility after barbecues and fires have been lit in and around the skatepark recently.

Just this week, the fire service was also called out after one got out of hand.

In pictures shared by Coronation Park, the fires show damage to the grass surrounding the skatepark.

"Barbecues are a significant fire risk and can be hazardous for wildlife. Disposable barbeques are one of the main causes of grass fires and damage the wildlife habitat and grass," a spokesperson for the park said.

The park urged residents to use the park for picnics only and leave the barbeques at home, and dispose of rubbish correctly following issues with litter in the past month.

"We are also missing the lid from the bin in the Skate Park, if this is spotted anywhere please let us know," they added.
