Helston Medical Centre and Porthleven Surgery have issued a warning following an increase in abuse towards staff.

In a notice issued today, the surgery said they will not tolerate verbal or physical abuse.

An appeal has been issued for more kindness as the surgery looks to work its way through this difficult period.

A spokesperson for Helston Medical Centre and Porthleven Surgery said:

"All staff at Helston Medical Centre & Porthleven Surgery are working very hard to provide an excellent service to our patients. However, there has been a noticeable increase recently in the abuse and threatening language the staff now have to deal with.

"They are not here to suffer verbal or physical abuse from patients, their relatives or members of the public.

"This practice operates a zero-tolerance policy with regards to violence or abuse. Any patients or their relatives, who use threatening or offensive behaviour, either verbal or physical, in person or by telephone, will be removed from the practice list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff and other patients."
