A driver was arrested in Helston on Wednesday evening (5th) following a short game of "hide and seek" with police.

The vehicle came up as stolen and officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

It turned out the owner had his vehicle back but did not inform the police, the reason for that soon became clear.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said:

"We found out he had no insurance, a provisional licence and he had also been drinking alcohol. He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested."

The vehicle was seized.

Soon after the incident a separate vehicle was stopped in a busy evening, the police added:

"Not long after a Matiz passed us. The MOT had expired in November 2019, there was no insurance held and no VEL either. On stopping the vehicle both front tyres had cord exposed. Another dangerous vehicle seized off the roads."
