The historic Seahawk fighter besides the gate at RNAS Culdrose is being illuminated in red, to mark Remembrance this year.

The air station's electrical team has rigged up lights to shine on the classic aircraft every evening until November 11th.

A spokesman for the air station said:

"With so few traditional parades taking place this year due to the lockdown, we still wanted to mark this important event and show people how much we value the sacrifices made by previous generations. We've also been unable to attend our usual community events this year, such as collecting on behalf of the Royal British Legion at local supermarkets.

"We were asked to look at illuminating either a building or an aircraft in red by a trustee of The Veteran's Charity, to raise awareness of Remembrance. We are also supporting the Royal British Legion's online poppy appeal and personnel have been raising money in their own way, such as our Hawk jet squadron who are running around the airfield each day for charity – part of the national 'poppy run' appeal."
