Porthleven could soon be getting a new microbrewery after an application was been lodged to convert a vehicle repair shop, at Harbour Head.
The application was submitted by the owner of The Mussell Shoal (Kelvin Batt), if granted, the name of the premises would be Shoals Brewery - with pictures also showing space for outdoor seating.
Kelvin Batt is seeking:
"Change of use from vehicle repair shop to a taproom for the microbrewery under the classification of Sui generis, previously Class A4 public houses, wine bars, or drinking establishments."
In a heritage report, the Porthleven Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Strategy identifies the whole boatyard site as an Opportunity Site, capable of development if "tackled in a sensitive fashion which respects the historic character, grain and appearance of the Conservation Area."
The heritage report concluded:
"The proposed use class change to occupy the building through a temporary period before further permitted development is considered to have minimal impact on the area providing delicate and aesthetic care is taken to the proposed seating area."
