A fundraiser to support a local business in Porthleven caught in a fire yesterday (28th) has had its target smashed in less than 15 hours.

Emergency services could be seen swarming the town yesterday (28th) after a blaze at Landed fish and chip shop, Fore Street.

Smoke could be seen filling the area, with the fire service managing to put it out at around 3:45pm.

A fundraiser was then set up by friends and community members getting behind the owners of Landed.

Set up around 13 hours ago, with a target of £5,000, the donations now amount to £6,285.

A spokesperson for the fundraiser added:

"Running a business is challenging enough and to have started and kept going throughout the pandemic is a remarkable achievement, we are heartbroken to hear of the fire this morning, destroying their place of business, what a kick in the sweets.

"If you can help Ross no matter how big or small a donation - it will all help and will be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate then please share this with others.

"This fund has been set up by Ross and Ellie's friends and community in Porthleven to enable us to set up a recovery fund whilst he gets back on his feet and anyone who wishes to help to make a contribution."
