New owner of Mullion hotel plans for further investment to enhance facilities

Polurrian on The Lizard has a new owner after a Lincolnshire businessman purchased the hotel.

The businessman who has holidayed with his family in Cornwall for over three decades - has now acquired the hotel they return to year-in-year-out.

Travel Sector Property Limited (TSPL) has concluded its off-market acquisition of Hotel Polurrian Limited, owner of the freehold interest in Polurrian on the Lizard at Mullion in Cornwall and its surrounding 12 acres of grounds, inclusive of part of the Polurrian Cove beach.

Andrew Long, Principal Director of TSPL commented:

"We are delighted to have acquired the Polurrian, which has many happy memories for my family and I since first discovering this wonderful location some 32 years ago. We are proud to own this iconic hotel and to further endorse our Cornwall connections, with regular visits for business and pleasure each year."

This is a going concern transaction and all employees at the Polurrian, including the General Manager, Grant Callaghan, will continue to be employed.

The new owners have also entered into a management agreement with the vendor group, Luxury Hotel Management Limited under the helm of Nigel Chapman, well established and highly experienced hoteliers.

Andrew Long is a co-founder of the Extra Motorway Services Areas Group, where he continues to be CEO and an ongoing investor.

He has around 35 years of property and operational experience in the hospitality and roadside sectors and has a number of exciting plans for further investment in the Polurrian to enhance the existing facilities.

Nigel Chapman, Principal of Luxury Hotel Management added:

"We are delighted to be working jointly with Andrew and his team. It's great to see the next chapter for the Polurrian successfully unfolding and to know that there will be a significant further investment into this much-loved hotel."

Polurrian has quite a history, built in 1890 the hotel was destroyed by a fire in 1909 and rebuilt. It now has 41 individually styled rooms, hosting weddings and large parties. The venue can also be hired on an exclusive basis, providing use of the entire hotel and 12 acres of clifftop gardens.
