The Museum Of Cornish Life, based on Market Place, has announced its upcoming plans and progress on work to the museum shop.

In a newsletter, the museum said improvements continue to the shop and they gave an estimated reopening time.

The proposals for improvements, which were laid out in December, are to strip out the existing shop fittings which are thought to date back to the 1980s and replace it with a more accessible and contemporary shop design.

The museum said:

"We are delighted to have been working with Rebuild South West and can't wait to open the new shop, which is funded thanks to the Lottery Players."

The museum is planning to stay closed in January with plans to open in the February half-term (dependant on current Covid-19 restrictions).

They continued:

"On opening, we are hoping to showcase the results of our 3D costume scanning project in the form of a temporary exhibition.

"February is one of our favourite months as we usually host 'Animate Helston' in partnership with Cornwall Film Festival. If it is not possible to open keep an eye out as we will be creating something online."
