Update - Road cleared, accident cleared on B3304 near Shrubberies Hill.

A man remains in custody this afternoon on suspicion of driving under the influence after an accident near Porthleven.

Just before 9:30am this morning (11th), there were reports of an incident on the B3304 near Shrubberies Hill, the route between Porthleven and Helston.

Police were called out to the scene and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs. He remains in custody at this time.

As of (12:06) the road is still said to be partially blocked with traffic coping well.

A local resident shared their experience and was in one of the cars coming the other way, describing it as a "close call".

The eyewitness added:

"He lost control of the back end as he was coming towards me. He was fighting with it, and ended up going sideways, then vertical up the hedge.

"Extremely lucky not to end up on its roof, or smashing into one of the other cars travelling in the opposite direction."
