A new tradition was born in Helston as a huge crowd gathered outside the Museum of Cornish Life for the St Piran's Day Lantern Parade.

The evening was kicked off by songs from Odds and Sods, followed by a lantern parade from local school children, alongside a special performance from Helston Town Band.

Church Street and Market Place were dazzling with bright lights from lanterns made by pupils from Parc Eglos, Nansloe, and St Michael's.

The lanterns were made during free half-term lantern making workshops at CAST.

The event was a first for the town in this location and it was well supported. Helston residents packed out the streets creating a superb atmosphere.
