Plans have been given the green light for a new microbrewery in Helston.

Submitted by Simon and Kim Stone, permission was granted this week (28th) for the new construction of the new building.

The plans see the construction of a new micro-brewery and bottling plant, with the intention to deliver bottled beer in and out of county to support local public houses and other businesses including shops, bars, and restaurants.

The new build will reflect the industrial units already at Trenethick Business Park in Water Ma Trout, with 380 sq m of floor space for the manufacturing of beer making.

There will also be space made for visitor viewing and product purchase.

The space will also include a wash area and an office/storage space.

The construction will allow for 7 full-time staff, on a Monday-Friday basis 7am-6pm.

In a supporting statement, the applicants said:

"The use will contribute to the local economy and support the provision of employment opportunities whilst facilitating sustainable growth by ensuring that an unused piece of land within the industrial estate does not remain vacant and unused/underused. We are of the view that the development is the right use in the right location."

The town council had backed the plans adding:

"Helston Town Council recommends approval of the application but recommend that it is ensured that an appropriate odour control process is in place. The Town Council would also encourage the applicants to consider the use of solar panels and sustainable materials in the build and to consider increasing the biodiversity of the site as part of screening."
