The Helston community gathered over the weekend to show their support for Ukraine.

The walk was led by the mayor Tim Grattan-Kane on Saturday (5th) alongside members of Helston Town Council and residents in solidarity for the country.

Russia invaded Ukraine ten days ago (Thursday 24th February) and this has resulted in mass bloodshed and destruction. The United Nations estimates 1.5 million people have fled Ukraine since the conflict began with many of them heading for Poland.

A group of around 50 people walked around the Boating Lake - £320 was also raised for the emergency appeal.

The Mayor said the turnout was really positive for the impromptu event.
