The biggest beer garden in Helston is set for a grand reopening on July 4th, Helston Rugby Club has announced.

Club chairman Jason Bardell told Nub News how lockdown has been hard but the club is excited to get going again, "having invested so much time and effort over the lockdown period in club and grounds, it will be great to show it off and get the place busy again," Jason told Nub News.

The club will look slightly different with some key safety measures in place:

  • Restricting the amount of furniture inside to allow good flow.
  • An in and out policy and multiple toilets for if it gets busy. Outside toilets so no unnecessary trips inside.
  • Staff will have screens and masks when needed, no same use glasses and regular cleaning with sanitizer.

The club has a 85m2 inside and 100m2 patio, which they feel can accommodate a good number of people whilst promoting good social space, with an additional five acres of fields.

Jason continued:

"Lockdown has been hard on the club. Not only did we miss the end of season finals we were in but the six nations left us with lots of stock.

"Whilst there has been some support to pay the bills, our club survives on being able to generate an income to invest in players other senior and our youth which is currently the biggest in Cornwall.

"And serving the best pint of Guinness in town and having only just received our award earlier in the year, I can't wait to taste the difference. Cans are no substitute!"

The club will be open initially from Fridays to Sunday's and will have takeaway food on offer from DigIn and The Big Eats Co.
